Change

“Things are gonna change and it’s way overdue.  Gonna step into the light and face the truth. No more compromise, no apologies.  Yeah there’s gonna be some change beginning with me.”

Prelude:  A good friend once told me that if I want to find God, look for God in change.

Change was written in 2005 during a period when I was still in between meds and doctors.  I yearned to get stable as I lived with Bipolar but there was so many factors that needed to be addressed:  Tested, tried and re-tried, medications working and not working and even which doctor to work with.  It was an arduous process.  All I knew is I wanted to change.

The song was written in a moment of clarity; meaning, I was not in a desperate state.  I wanted to change from a life of chaos, limited self-control, and minimal accountability, and I wanted to take control of my life, take responsibility for my choices and actions and live a normal life.

As I listened to Change being sung in my head it was as you hear it.  I’m not sure which genre it falls into. Perhaps you can leave a comment and tell me what you hear.  What I did hear from start to finish was Kelli’s voice singing which is why she is doing to vocals in the typical “Kelli is amazing” fashion.  I also want to acknowledge my friend Tony Benach for playing live drums on this piece.  He’s the best drummer I know.
