When You’re Gone was written one long, dreary night when MyBeloved Linda was on the East Coast traveling for work. It wasn’t the first time. Over the past couple of years or so she has been asked to travel 3 – 4 times a year sometimes for a week at a time. To most 21st Century business people that probably seems like no big deal. To me, I was surprisingly lonely.
Linda is an amazingly intelligent, positive, passionate person who, when engaged in a project or job gives it much more than her all. She taught dozens of kids and adults piano for ten or more years while at the same time earning her Masters Degree in Psychology. When the opportunity to work for an Educational Coaching company came up she not only excelled but was quickly placed in management, working with new clients, and developing training. She was being asked to travel a lot.
Okay, we’re both adults. Linda has a job to do and so do I. But I was finding that when she was gone, a big part of my daily life went with her. And as it happened on one long, cold night while she was visiting with Heather in New York between flights, I laid awake listening to a simple, fun but genuinely true summary of what life is like for me… When You’re Gone.
Thank you: My thanks to Emily for her assistance with the arrangement. Thank you Jameson’s.
